Tomorrow, July 31st, the latest television reality offering, Atlanta Plastic, makes its debut on Lifetime TV at 10 p.m. It will be shown every Friday night.
While the other current plastic surgery show, Botched, is closer to a televised Barnum & Baily circus sideshow, Atlanta Plastic focuses on minorities looking for cosmetic plastic surgery to just look and feel better.

Each episode follows three cosmetic surgery patients — one for each surgeon — from first consultation to a healed and rejuvenated post-surgical appearance.
Three board-certified African-American plastic surgeons are featured, one of whom is female, Dr. Aisha McKnight-Baron; all work at Crawford Plastic Surgery in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that black cosmetic plastic surgery patients accounted for 7.1 percent of all plastic surgery patients in 2014.
But the big leap forward in ethnic cosmetic plastic surgery was between 2005 and 2013 when black plastic surgery rose 56 percent, compared to 35 percent for Anglo background people. Meanwhile, cosmetic plastic surgery for Asians and Hispanics grew faster than both.

All that creates a need for plastic surgeons everywhere to thoroughly know varying beauty standards for different races.
The other two featured surgeons are Drs. Marcus Crawford and Wright Jones.
Dr. Jones has about 80 percent minority patients, along with some Anglo patients. “I don’t want to be known as a black surgeon; I want to be known as a great surgeon who happens to be black.”
Tomorrow’s show features one of Dr. Baron’s patient, Roz, a middle-aged black woman who bore four children and wants:
- A breast lift
- Liposuction
- Tummy Tuck
- Vaginal reconstruction
An interesting side note: Roz’s husband Cregg is not fully on board with the surgery.
